Behind the Pines & Limes

So you must be wondering why the name Pines & Limes? Well, if you are, you’re in the right place!

Pines & Limes is a really special name to me. It is a connection between plants and humans. Limes are plants cultivated by humans. Pines, on the other hand, are seen as wilder and slower-growing trees. Let’s go on a brief journey into why I chose the name Pines & Limes.

Pines live for a very long time (like longer than your current oldest relative!). Some Pine trees are said to be over 1,000 years old! They are super slow-growing; some of the faster pine species will grow 2-3 feet in a year, while slower-growing species of pines will grow about 6-12 inches. These trees are extremely resilient and are said to be among the first to come up after a fire. When I think of trees for the outdoors, I will often think of pines. They have been in my life from when I was little, and I haven’t been everywhere, but Pines grow in many forests. They are some of the most iconic trees. Pine trees, from a spiritual point of view, represent longevity, strength, fertility, cleaning and clearing things out, and wildness. Pines are also called evergreens to me; this is why they symbolize fertility. Throughout winter, they are one of the few trees to remain green. So we have learned a bit about the “Pine”; let’s get into why “Limes”!

Personally, limes are really refreshing, in food they bring a bright fresh taste, and it is the same with the energy they bring! Limes are believed to have come from Southeast Asia and are said to be one of the first known plants to be spread by humans. They were first said to have traveled the world with sailors who needed the vitamin C to help with fighting off scurvy. Limes from a spiritual point of view are said to help ward off evil, remove old stagnant energy, open new pathways, and refresh the energy. They are amazing for your health, like I said earlier, they are high in vitamin C, which helps your immune system. Limes wouldn’t be as well known if it weren’t for this and sailors using it. From my point of view, limes are what we know today because of humans! Limes are often used in cooking, cleaning, drinks, and many other things that have hugely impacted human history.

So now you know why I chose these plants, but why did I put them together? So I do not claim to know everything about the great outdoors; in fact, I am just but a small part of it. I am learning and growing, and just like the pines, it may be slow growth and sometimes fast. I am hoping to share new and refreshing ideas that you may not have known, or you forgot. This is a passion project of mine. As we go on this journey together, I want to call on some of the oldest, wildest, and most cultivated energy to help us learn and grow! Come along on this journey of knowledge with me!

I cannot wait to keep growing and flowing with you! Let me know what you’d be interested in learning about below!

Remember, get out there and have fun!
